What do you like most about working in the nonprofit sector? The committed and amazing mission-driven humans I've been privileged to work alongside.
Additional information to highlight: I will soon be transitioning into a new role as Senior Case Study Writer at The To & Through Project (part of the Urban Education Institute at the University of Chicago) in July.
What do you hope to accomplish in your time in the YNPN LI Cohort? I hope I can grow in my own confidence as a leader and clarify my goals and aspirations for the impact I want to have.
What do you like most about YNPN? I've really enjoyed connecting with others in my Leadership Institute cohort and major shout out to Corey for being a fantastic facilitator. I feel so lucky to get this chance to really lean in on focusing on my professional development and learning--something that can often get put aside in favor of other things.
What are your hopes for our industry? I think we need to do much more to dismantle the white supremacy that exists within our organizations and the systems we work within and strive to show up in a more anti-racist and inclusive way. This is obviously an incredibly difficult and complex charge, but I think the most important one we have.
What gets you out of bed in the morning? In both a literal and a motivational way-- my 18-month old son. He definitely gets me out of bed far earlier than I would normally wake up on my own but also being his parent and striving to be the kind of person I hope my son will be proud of someday is a big part of what motivates me to get out of bed and do the work I do. What do you like to do in your spare time? I don't have a lot of spare time these days and ooof Covid makes a lot of this hard, but I love traveling, exploring great local coffee shops, bars, and restaurants, spending time with my phenomenal friends, getting involved in local politics, and reading.
