Meet the young professionals who have received funding from YNPN Chicago's Professional Growth Grant to pursue professional development and make the nonprofit sector stronger

KORBIN HOUSTON

Korbin used her award toward an Associate Professional in Human Resources® certification by the Human Resources Certification Institute®. The aPHR® is an entry level professional certification in the HR field that certifies an entry level of knowledge around various topics in the field, from labor laws to workplace culture. This is helping Korbin support her goal to obtain a nonprofit human resources position. Korbin is especially interested in issues of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

BRADLEY TROAST

Bradley used his award to enroll in an online course through North Park University’s School of Business and Nonprofit Management. It was a seven-week course offered in the summer semester called “Fundraising Principles for Nonprofit Organizations.” This course will support Bradley to develop in his current role as Associate Director, Institutional Giving at Breakthrough and to achieve his long term career goal of becoming a nonprofit executive director.
