Position Summary
Umoja Student Development Corporation seeks a dynamic Restorative Justice Professional Development Specialist for a full-time position. This individual is an educator, community organizer, and entrepreneur who uses professional development with faculty and staff to improve high school culture. The position requires passion and creativity with strong facilitation, planning, and organizational skills. The primary responsibilities for the Restorative Justice Professional Development Specialist are to schedule, plan, and implement high quality, customized professional learning for schools, districts, and other community organizations. This position is also responsible for developing new relationships with educational organizations by attending conferences, networking at events, and creating marketing materials. To fulfill these responsibilities, the Restorative Justice Professional Development Specialist works collaboratively with Umoja team members. Together with colleagues, the Specialist will ensure that educators receive the most current and appropriate services to build their organizational capacity for implementing Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Restorative Practices, and College and Career Readiness initiatives. This position reports directly to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Plan, prepare, and facilitate Umoja’s PD, ensuring the highest engagement, quality, and effectiveness
• Write and refine engaging professional development materials to build capacity among adults to implement SEL, Restorative Practices, and College and Career Readiness
• Manage relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and communicate by email, phone, and in person to coordinate the logistics of trainings
• Coordinate all PD engagements, including maintaining the internal PD calendar and organizational documents, securing space, collecting and assessing evaluations, and invoicing clients
• Develop marketing materials for Umoja’s work, including publishing a biweekly newsletter showcasing Umoja’s work and advertizing upcoming programming
• Actively and continuously generate new clients and PD partners
• Stay current with professional learning research and practices to enhance professional learning offerings

Qualifications
Desired Skills & Experience
• Has extensive experience facilitating/teaching a variety of educational content; strong understanding of teacher and adult learning
• Experience writing educational and marketing materials using varied modalities and the full range of multi-media content delivery tools and techniques (proficiency in all Microsoft Office and Google Office applications)
• Ability to communicate in an effective and compelling manner both orally and in writing
• Top-notch organization and follow-through skills
• Experience planning meetings, conferences, and events of varying sizes
• Independent thinker and problem-solver, with strong ability to manage projects and time
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders

Other Qualifications
This position requires a valid driver’s license, reliable automobile, insurance and good driving record. This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience.
